The rate ledger only works because people add to it. If you have been paid for freelance or side hustle work in the last six months, this takes about a minute. We publish medians only, never individual submissions, and never your name.
Be specific. “Design” is not usable; “social media graphics for a supplement brand” is.
Used to group figures by region. We do not publish anything narrower than country.
Only used to ask for the verification file and to tell you when your figure goes in. Not added to any list unless you tick below.
What happens to your submission
1. We ask for proof. Usually an invoice or a platform payout screen. You redact everything except the amount, the date and the type of work.
2. We check it. The figure has to match the description and fall inside a plausible range for that work.
3. It becomes part of a median. Your individual number is never published. It moves the middle of a group, and the group needs at least ten records before it appears at all.
4. Your file is deleted. Verification documents are removed once the figure is recorded. We keep the number, not the paperwork.
What we cannot use
Screenshots of dashboards showing lifetime totals, figures you heard from someone else, projected or expected income, and anything from a scheme that pays for recruiting people. We also cannot use numbers older than twelve months — rates move too fast.
This form does not send anywhere yet — it needs connecting to your form handler. Nothing you type is stored in the meantime.
Why anonymous medians
Rate transparency helps the person with the least information in the room, which is almost always the freelancer rather than the client. But publishing individual figures alongside identifiable details helps nobody: it exposes people to their own clients and turns one person’s good month into somebody else’s unrealistic benchmark.
Medians with sample sizes attached solve both problems. Nobody is identifiable, and you can see exactly how much confidence a figure deserves. Full detail on the checks is in how we test.
